Special Techniques: Decorative Saw Cutting Adding decorative saw cuts and sandblasting patterns to a chemically stained surface adds excitement to the design. Architects and designers often specify logos, geometric patterns or other designs when specifying the use of chemical stains on concrete floors and toppings. With saw cutting tools, it's possible to etch rose compasses, faux flagstones, floral arrangements, and other intricate patterns into the surface. The designs become vivid when Chemstain is applied to them. Many different types of cutting tools are available. Gas-powered walk-behind machines are often used for large outdoor commercial projects where the design calls for simple cuts -- straight lines or curves. Circular saws are also effective. Use fluorescent chalk to layout the design you're going to saw cut. |
