Description
To build the rocks, reinforcing steel rebar was bent into the desired shapes. The shapes were covered with chicken wire and then covered with concrete. While the concrete was still in its plastic state, sculptural tools were used to carve it into natural rock forms. The LITHOCHROME® Color Hardener used to construct the rocks is slip resistant and stands up to the effects of sunlight, attributes that make it a good choice for pool decks. After the color hardener set, LITHOCHROME® Chemstain™ Classic was used to give the rocks a natural color.

In the stamped areas, LITHOCHROME® Antiquing Release was used as a bond breaker for the imprinting tools. Because the colored release agent colors the highs and lows of the textured area, it gives the appearance of greater depth and so is more realistic.

Architectural Concrete Design is a decorative concrete contractor that works on projects ranging from colored and broomed concrete driveways, residential and commercial projects, to high end pool decks.
