Description
The designers were challenged to keep the very modern building from appearing intrusive in an historic district. Using a warm color in the entry and driveways of the hotel made it an attractive addition to the residential neighborhood. Variety was achieved by combining the integrally colored concrete with inset multicolored pavers forming sweeping arcs and squares which also reflected the historic brickwork in the surroundings. A flat troweled texture was added for visual appeal and to improve slip-resistance.

Project team: HNTB, architect; J.E. Dunn Construction.
