Intrepid Museum
Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architects, New York, NY
"Pier 86 was designed to meet the demands of a functional naval pier as well as create a premier public open space serving one of the most visited museums in New York City. Distinctive and durable pavements were key in realizing a striking, versatile destination along this revitalized midtown waterfront. The pattern of the cast-in-place concrete pavement utilizes colors and forms which relate to the dynamic flight deck of the Intrepid. The colors used here in the design were two different shades of gray CHROMIX® Admixtures for Color-Conditioned® Concrete. The dual grays complement each other and offer exceptional contrast. Color matched LITHOCHROMEÆ Colorwaxô ensured that colors were maintained and achieved."
