Announcing the Winners of the First Annual
Scofield Decorative Concrete Awards for 2008!

Excitement, anticipation and camaraderie were in the air as Executives and Divisional Sales Managers from L. M. Scofield Company hosted the finalists and their guests at the first annual Scofield Decorative Concrete Awards luncheon at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Wednesday, February 4, 2009.

The catered luncheon was also attended by invited guests and judges from several industry publications such as Concrete Decor, Concrete Construction, Public Works, Concrete Producer, Concrete Contractor, Architectural Record, GreenSource, ENR, Constructor, The Journal of Architectural Coatings and Concrete Network. After a brief introduction, it was down to the business of recognition for outstanding work as Harry Moats, President and COO of Scofield gave a slide presentation of each of the nine finalist's entries. A buffet lunch was served as the guests mingled with each other, and then Phil Arnold, Chairman and CEO of Scofield, addressed the audience and presented the awards.

The Grand Prize, an engraved cut crystal trophy, was awarded to Scott Bulger of J.L. Marshall & Sons of Pawtucket, RI. His firm's winning entry - the MGM Grand at Foxwoods - was applauded for its extensive use of integral color, stamped and stained concrete in a variety of beautiful applications around the exterior areas of the luxury hotel.

The remaining finalists, who all received recognition and a commemorative plaque, were:

Brian Ciocci - Lasting Impressions in Concrete (2 entries), Petaluma, CA
Josh Hostetler - Heritage Concrete Construction, Kalispell, MT
Shawn Wardall - Specialized Construction Services (2 entries), Waterloo, WI
Gregory Mata - Cutting Edge Decorative Concrete, Richfield, OH
Nick Sorrentino - Patterned Concrete of PA, Allentown, PA
Michael Cluer - Mathews Nielsen Landscape Architects, New York, NY

In addition to the plaques, all nine finalists will receive a writeup in select industry publications and be part of the Great Ideas Marketing campaign published by Scofield. Congratulations to all!
