What is Chemstain:
LITHOCHROME Chemstain is a ready-to-use,
penetrating, reactive concrete stain that chemically combines with cured
concrete to produce permanent, variegated or translucent color effects.
Chemstain contains no VOC's and meets stringent air quality management
regulations. Chemstain has repeatedly been selected as the #1 ranked
brand of concrete acid stain by concrete contractors.
Where to use Chemstain:
LITHOCHROME Chemstain is ideal for
exterior concrete hardscapes, interior concrete floors, or artificial
rock and water features. Chemstain produces concrete floors and
hardscapes that are one-of-a-kind and permanent, with a distinct
weathered appearance. Chemstain colors and enhances, but will not hide
the unique surface blemishes in the concrete.
What do customers say about Chemstain:
"Every LITHOCHROME Chemstain floor I've done is a
"work of art"! Chemstain truly takes on the personality of the concrete
and provides a beautiful concrete surface.
I've used Chemstain in both interior and exterior applications with
long-lasting results. The colors can be used to create beautiful
patterns and designs, or I can simply use a single color, from which you
get many shades to enhance the other textures of the project.
For me, the beauty of Chemstain is that it becomes part of the concrete.
A simple re-seal will usually bring it right back to its original beauty
even after years of wear. I love Chemstain and continue to "love to go
to work" because of the lasting impression I am able to create for my

For best results on worn or weathered concrete, LITHOCHROME®
Chemstain® Enhancer should be used.
Scofield recommends using a quality sprayer to apply Chemstain.
Chemstain is normally brush or spray applied
and scrubbed into the concrete surface. Other types of acid-resistant
equipment, such as sponges, sponge floats, lambswool applicators, or
spray bottles may be used to create special effects. Refer to full
application instructions in the Chemstain Technical Data Bulletin.

Custom-matched colors are also available. Tintura is available in all
colors depicted on Scofield color charts.
Examples shown represent three coats of LITHOCHROME® Tintura™
water-based stain applied over uncolored, medium gray concrete, then
sealed with two coats of SCOFIELD® Selectseal-W. The concrete
color effects produced may differ significantly from that shown on the
color chart. A representative test section should be prepared for each
individual concrete surface prior to general application.
Please note: concrete colors shown are approximate. Due to shade
variations associated with individual color monitors and printers, we
suggest utilization of our literature request form to review an actual
LITHOCHROME® Tintura™ Color Chart. We strongly recommend that
a concrete test slab be poured and approved prior to starting the job.
