CHAPEL OF ST. IGNATIUS|
Steven Holl Architects, New York, NY
Constructed in 1997, the multiple award-winning Chapel of St. Ignatius on the Seattle University campus was, at the time, one of the largest tilt-up slab buildings in existence.
Envisioned as "Seven bottles of light in a stone box", the architect utilized two Scofield products for the structure. For the exterior tilt-up walls, the concrete panels were integrally colored with CHROMIX® Admixtures for Color-Conditioned® Concrete and then stained with LITHOCHROME® Chemstain® Classic. In sharp contrast to the light from above, the floors of the chapel interior were colored with CHROMIX® Admixtures in Dark Gray, and sealed with a high gloss sealer.
