L. M. Scofield Company Launches New AIA CES - Architectural Concrete: Ground and Polished with Integral Color, Dyes and Stains

ATLANTA, GA . . . L. M. Scofield Company launched its new AIA CES at Hafele's NY Showroom on September 18. The event was attended by 175 people, making it one of the largest CES turnouts ever for Scofield.

The new CES has been designed around the increasingly popular technique of grinding and polishing concrete floors. Attendees learned that ground and polished concrete represents a fresh approach in providing decorative flooring, satisfying many green requirements and functionality. Also covered was the idea that polished concrete is a flooring medium that will outlast and outperform many other flooring materials.

The seminar distinguished between new construction and existing concrete and how to specify each. The usage of integral color and topical color treatments were discussed and how; when coupled with reactive densifiers; ground and polished concrete provides high reflectivity and low maintenance flooring. In addition, attendees learned that the long term durability of polished concrete eliminates the use of volatile compounds, as well as the removal and discarding of carpet, VCT, tile and other limited life flooring materials.
